My microsoft laptop has completely stopped recognizing keyboard or touchscreen ... it turns on but NOTHING works

After the August 14 2024 update, I sometimes get the facial recognition screen and it will say "Just a Moment" then after several minutes screen goes black. other times I can get a screen but none of the icons react to either keyboard or touchscreen.
