My keyboard will only type numbers and I’m stuck on the Lock Screen. How do I fix this?

Its a brand new HP laptop so it’s not broken or anything, but here’s what I know, I was sitting in my living room playing PS4, while my computer was open in my room downloading something. I heard clicking and went back to my room to see my cat walking all over my keyboard. Next thing I knew, I could only type numbers. This affects the on screen keyboard too. I tried to restart the computer but now I’m stuck on the Lock Screen because I can’t type letters for my password. I’ve tried num lock, and restarting again, but nothing is working. Please help!
