My headset's microphone doesn't work with my gaming pc.

Hello, I recently acquired a gaming rig both a headset jack and a microphone jack. The issue rose when I attempted to use my headsets mic to no avail. I tried to plug in my headset into the mic jack but it just resulted in no mic input and audio output. I tried following some guides to help me but whenever I went into sound settings the mic of my headset wouldn't appear.
