My computer keeps "soft crashing" and I don't know why. Can you help?

So, I've been dealing with a rather strange issue with my computer. At random times, and sometimes right after booting up, my computer does what I would call a "soft crash." It becomes partially non-responsive. First, the sound will cut out and then the rgb on my keyboard will shut off, but I can still type. I can still use the mouse and click on programs. Sometimes they open, sometimes not. The task manager is unresponsive and on the few rare occasions that it does come up, it doesn't display anything.
