My computer forced me to change my PIN but now only accepts numbers?

I've had my computer for years and had a Microsoft login PIN that used letters and numbers. A few days ago, I got a message saying my organization required me to change my PIN number. I don't have an organization associated with my Microsoft account. I had no choice but to change my PIN to get into my computer. However, the PIN would only let me use numbers. There was not an option to use letters as well. When I went back to my settings, it said Windows PIN was unavailable and wouldn't let me change it. I can change it if I log out and do forgot my pin.
