My audio system seems to be having some strange issue.

So, for some oddball reason, if I have no audio playing, and then I suddenly have say, a ping from Discord, it will be almost inaudible. However, if I do have music (or any other audio) playing, it comes through just fine. It's as if my sound driver or something similar needs to be "warmed up" before quick little bits of audio come through audibly. Is there any reason as to why this is happening? An issue with the audio drivers, or maybe my wireless headset? I use a Corsair HS55 Wireless headset, so if there's a problem there, I apologize for any inconvenience.
