my Asus pen won't connect?

so I have an Asus Zenbook UX462DA, everything works fine except for the pen that comes with it. I bought the laptop about 3 years ago and everything was fine until now, haven't used the pen for a month and when I decided to draw using it, it doesn't work. the touchscreen responds to my finger but somehow it won't recognise the pen? any idea how to fix this?
