I'd actually like to try running IE7 & IE8 on Vista... are there people who have hacked this on and posted a guide? Formal support is not an issue for me.

Formal support *should* be an issue for you. About a year ago I made the mistake of installing a package which purported to allow multiple versions of IE to run, e.g. for testing websites. It worked with no apparent problems for a while, but then it somehow damaged my system so badly that it took about 28 hours of hard work to fix the damage done. Now I do all my testing with multiple versions of IE using Microsoft's Virtual PC, one of the two approved methods of doing so: it is a lot slower than that package, but at least my PC is stable.

I've never called MS support in my life and I don't plan to anytime soon. If it works, and if any potential problems have work-arounds that aren't a serious burden or hack, then it works for me.
