My old DELL with XP Home SP 123 Crashed so bad you plug it in and right away it lights up and: BEEP,BEEP,BEEP, and won't stop until you unplug it! So, I got 1 just like it, the CD-R scratches up every CD or DVD you put in!!! The BEEP machine has 2 CD-R upper & lower, you'd Think it's easy to switch them over??? **** No! Act of Congress can't do it either! OK, back to IE 8 and Removing it, I Formatted the old DELL Dime... 6400 and had an XP Copy Disk from an Apple Store Referbish Guru Guy, and it went all well, except.. for a few Drivers! Now it's DELL's Turn to play Hard Ball, with my 2ond. hand PC.. you may have had the same problems with getting help.. MS helped with the drivers I needed. DELL refused unless I had the 1st Owners Passwords and service tag that is still valid, Names and Adresse's??? Why? It's A 2ond hand PC!!! Oh Well, IE8 was in with the Family Security Package with all sorts of Nice things that did work.. inc. Defender, a Video card, and many other nice stuff.. but when after a year or so it was all getting old.. and you could go to " Add & Remove" and Hit "Repair" and it would work.. after that 2 times.. it all stoped working!!! My PC was so unstable, I changed 2 sticks to new ones and still had to remove that package and it didn't want to go anywhere!!! You can not use any other anti-viro protection with "That" still on your PC there was "Conflicts" "Big time!" So, the only solution was to use the old DELL for parts, for "this" PC. "They".. should make it Easy-er to "uninstall Stuff" that needs to be removed. And, Browsers should be good to run for at least 5-10 years tops. Lots of us use our PC to get parts for our cars, stereos, watches, washing machines, what have you? And maybe go back to School.. ? Or, Voc Tech, to stay in contact with your Kids.. these PC problems.. take lots of "Devoted Time" away from everything else you need to get done!!! I Hope in the future "They" will Work with us on these issues. Then I could find the time to fix something else..ha,ha. Thanks, Jack
