MSFT removes the Photo copy automatic naming function from Photos? If so, this is an improved user experience ??

I spent an hour trying to figure out what I was doing accidentally to prevent Photos from automatically naming a photo copy file, as it always has done. Now I see indications that MSFT simply canceled this renaming service without explanation? Nor is there any feature asking for a custom name? This action save MSFT money? It sure does not seem to be in the user's interests in any way.
