Hi.
Microsoft Security Essentials has just started when running stating preliminary scan results show that malicious or potentially unwanted software present, but when scan completed nothing found. I noticed when scan running it gets to svchost, pauses then the message with yellow exclamation pops up. Have settings default actions to quarantine. Also have run full malwarebytres scan plus Microsoft safety scanner and nothing found. Has MSE become corrupted? Also I notice that Defender is set to off and I cannot switch on? Have had no unusual pop ups or unexpected activity to suggest I have an infection. Have no other Virus software to clash with MSE. It started after I downloaded a number of Microsoft updates which at first would not download so broke down into 1 & 2's for download and then the rest downloaded. Have moved back via system restore prior to this download but still get message in MSE.
Am running WIN 7 Ultimate and Office 2007.
Any help/advice greatly appreciated.
