MSDefender VPN compatibility

I am running MSDefender v1.1.611601103 with VPN turned on on an iPhone 12 on iOS 18.3. When VPN is on IMAP mails (specifically hotmail.co.uk) do not download, although folders do. When I turn VPN off the native mail app works ok, turn it on and again it stops.I have deleted and re-added accounts to the app as well as deleting and reinstalling the app and still no luck. Have downloaded the outlook app as an alternative and that works ok. Apple say some VPN products might cause connectivity issues with some of their apps. Apart from trying an alternative VPN that might work
