When navigating in MS CRM 4 from a Win XP SP3 / IE8 web browser, the 'Recruitment \ Applications \ Application Information' shows a login requester box (requesting login credentials to the CRM web server) in order to access the page; when the same page is navigated to from a Win 7 \ IE8 machine the login requester box does not appear and the page opens normally. Why is the behaviour different between Win XP SP3 and Win 7 with the same browser and same browser settings (receiving the same settings through MS GPO)?
The Login requester box did not appear while using Win XP SP3 with IE7 browser, the behaviour changed as soonn as the browser was upgraded to IE8.
The version numbers are as follows:
Win XP SP3 IE8 - 8.0.6001.18702
Win 7 IE8 - 8.0.7600.16385
MS CRM 4 - 4.0.7333.7321
We would like, if possible, both operating ystems to behave in the same way (NOT to request login credentials)
We have tried: a) resetting the browser settings to default, the same login requester box appears; b) ensuring that no MS GPO's are affecting the IE browser settings and then resetting the browser back to default, again we get the login box requesting user name and password for the CRM web server. c) Using Windows 7 and IE8 and the login requester box does not appear when navigating between CRM web pages - this is the behaviour we would like to see happen with XP SP3 and IE8 but cannot achieve it. d) Ensuring that user name / password information is not stored on the computer by Credential Manager. e) re-imaging the computer with Win XP SP3 and IE7 instead of IE 8 - this is the only way we can get Win XP SP3 to navigate between CRM web pages WITHOUT requesting user name / password credentials to the CRM web server; we would like to see the same results using IE 8 though.
