mouse pointer has changed to a cross

Working with my Excel spreadsheet, my mouse pointer has changed to a cross and all of the "helps" I have found, (;accidentally clicking on Draw borders, etc.) do not fix the problem. this is happening on all of my Excel files. I have gone into Start, Mouse settings, and made sure the selection is on Arrow, but to no avail. This has just started today.Windows 11, Excel 2013.
