Speediest solution:

-- download from HP the latest XP driver(s) for this printer

-- uninstal the printer then instal it as new; when prompted,

/Browse to the new drivers (not those on your WinXP instal disk.)

INFormation files are not usually called by Windows or

by printer functions. They are used only to alter the OS

by loading drivers (which thereafter the Hive/Registry

will load) -- and if all INF files were deleted a good

installation would reboot just the same. So it may not

help to know what procedure or app says this file is "missing."

Go to hp.com, download, and save the *drivers* needed for the device.

Install them with the browser and all other open programs closed.

If possible, avoid the other unnecessary *crap* that HP tries to bundle

with the drivers.

You can visit HP's website and download the drivers, most likely the drivers

are corrupt and need to be reinstalled.
