Having difficulty dealing with this issue.
I've been through this guide and I've tried the steps.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/10164/fix-windows-update-errors
1.) Run the network troubleshooter - useless step and not applicable.
2.) Ran the Windows Update troubleshooter - it didn`t fix this issue.
3.) Rename software distribution backup folders - these Command Prompts don`t work unless I'm somehow typing them improperly.
I type: Ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.bak
And I get this: "Acess is denied" even if I run as administrator. I assume there's a space between "Ren" and "%" and a space between the "Software Distribution" lines. Even if I type this CMD with no spaces, still the same result.
4.) Download the most recent Servicing Stack Update (SSU) - What a nightmare. Leads me to page after page. I`ve downloaded 10 install files here, and then what? Do I install them in a specific order? Then I run Windows Update after? Download Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) from Official Microsoft Download Center
5.) Reset or reinstall Windows - Not reinstalling/resetting Windows because MS can't release proper updates.
Looking at other fixes for this issue, not overly happy about this right now.
