Microsoft Updates

The following updates keep failing to install on my computer. I currently
run Windows Vista Home Premium

KB929916
KB935807
KB905766
KB933928
KB935280
KB937077

I have tried to install them two times already but both times they fail to
install. Also, whenever i follow the instructions to restart my computer,
when it's in the starting phase, it always shuts-downs again. After that,
though, it completes start up but when I check the updates, they are not
installed.

If I could help with this problem I would really appreciate it!
 
Check your update log:

Run > Type %windir%\windowsupdate.log
Scroll down to the bottom for recent updates and look for Errors. Post them
for further assistance.

Same problem I have encountered KB933928 wouldnt be installed. Here's what I
got from the windowsupdate log:

"2007-07-12 08:40:30:701 1020 16d8 Handler CBS called Error with 0x800f0816,"

Sorry to have taken so long to get back with you. You can try downloading
the Kb for your unit. There is one for X64 systems. Save it in your
documents. Perform these troubleshooting steps first.

Retry the installation after you're finished using Windows Update. If it

Ok, I looked through all those confusing logs and found the one that keeps
repeating ever since the problem arose. That is:

1) Look in the CBS.log for specifics relating to the issue

Run > Type in %windir%\Logs\CBS folder

How Package Manager Works

"Detailed error information is available in %WINDIR%\logs\cbs\Cbs.log or the
user-specified log file."

Do you have full permissions on the unit/s being updated? Is correct
username/password given.

2) Some Windows Vista functions may not work, or Windows Vista may stop

I ran it and got two files:

CBS
CBS.persist

They both open with notepad but 'Access Denied' appers when I try to open it.

OK I did and tried the updates again. They failed so i didn't bother with
them for awhile (hence how long I took to reply). But I tried them again
today and they worked!!! :)

Now the optional update it gives me-

Hewlett-Packard - Other Hardware - HP Photosmart D5060 Printer (DOT4USB)

-doesn't wanna install. The error code it get is:

Code 80070103

What should I do?

I received the same on hp psc unit. The driver 1) may already be installed
or, 2) is older than your current driver.

You can do what I did if you like, go to HP.com and type your printer in the
search engine. Select downloads on the left index for your unit and check
for updates to manually install. The driver I had in updates is dated
6/10/07 and the most current at HP is dated 7/?/07 but, I didn't need the
driver is what it said.

Good luck and glad to hear you succeeded with the kb installations. You may
still see windows update reappear with the same updates; I did after the
first successful update message. When it reappeared again, I clicked install
and again it said successful. When I checked yesterday, it is the same psc
optional update appearing with the same code # you've given.
