Microsoft Still Using Out of Date email Address

I originally opened my Microsoft account under an old email address. I now have a new address which I use for everything and I have removed the old address from my Microsoft account. Unfortunately, Microsoft are still occasionally communicating with me on this old address (which, from a security app, I understand has been compromised) . I am unable to do anything to access the old email address other than receive emails. How can I get Microsoft to use only my new email address.
