Microsoft Security Essentials error code 0x80004004

I was receiving error code when I tried to update definitions on Microsoft Security Essentials on Windows Vista 64 operating system. I tried numerous times resulting with the same code appearing. I then uninstalled Microsoft Security Essentials and reinstalled the program. Still the same resulting error code.


I had the same initial problem with another computer running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, but only had to retry the definitions update 12-15 times.


How do I get Security Essentials up and running on this Vista laptop?


Computer: Toshiba Satellite

OS: Vista Deluxe 64 bit

Program: Windows Security Essentials
