Microsoft Essentials Error Code 0X800106ba

When I try to run either a quick or full scan, Microsoft essentials turns off with the Error Code 0X800106ba. It reports that Microsoft Essentials and Windows Defender are turned off. This just started today, nothing has changed from a week ago except normal Microsoft Updates which I install regularly. What can I do to get rid of this issue? Thanks in advance.
