Microsoft Ergonomic Sculpt Keyboard opens shortcuts instead of typing

Hello,


I have a new out of box Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard and mouse combo - mouse works great.


When using the keyboard to type it continually opens shortcuts and menu bars even when I deliberately pick up my hands and only hit one key. it does it on numerous keys including the space bar.


It is installed on a computer with a new Windows 10 installation, I have installed the Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse utility and updated the drivers as well.


If I even have the batteries in it during start-up my computer is opening up the boot menus without me touching the keyboard at all.


Also I do not have it on the function option - slide to the left


lastly the separate number key element also works fine


Any suggestions welcome.
