Microsoft Compression Client Pack 1.0 for Windows XP

To Shenan Stanley - you still haven't answered the man's question: what

does the Compression Client do? I get the impression that you don't have

a clue, and think you can bluff around it by quoting links and KBs. Guys

like you give techs a bad name.

Wow guys, can we be a little less literal here? Obviously he wants

someone to explain what the hell all that technical mumbo jumbo means.

We aren't all technical savy here you know?



Perhaps an example of a program that uses it or a better definition for

the normal user from one of you techies would be more than what he is

asking for.

The main value of this article, is the section at the top.

It is a way of sending a change to a file, without having

to send the whole file. For it to work, both parties have

to agree that the copy of the file they currently have,

is the same. Otherwise, such a delta scheme could never work.

Years ago, there was a similar concept used for text files.

This illustrates the concept a little bit. The article claims

this method was invented almost 30 years ago.
