Microsoft all-in-one media keyboard - poor wireless range

Yes it's got a great value price so what would I expect but I'm extremely disappointed in the wireless range I'm perceiving here. Even with totally clear line of sight, the keyboard stops working at about 2 metres. I'm looking to use it literally 3 metres from the transceiver. Perhaps it's about conserving power but they should have considered this product would be used for home theatre setups and that may mean users sitting several metres from the transceiver.


Is there anyway to boost the signal? A setting I haven't seen? Something that could be changed by the Windows 10 driver being changed?
