Microsoft account problem

I removed my laptop from my Microsoft account due to a small problem. Now I can't get it back to my account in any way. I tried to re-register my laptop using the registration form. I entered Other devices, entered the region, and entered the laptop's serial number, but I get a message: "We don't recognize this serial number". I'm sure the serial number is written correctly, I've verified it. Is that the right place to add an ASUS laptop to the account? The account is otherwise working fine.
