Microphone Stopped Working

I have encountered a problem where my Windows 10 PC has stopped detecting any audio from my headset microphone. It was working fine one day and then when I turned the computer on the following day, with no changes made to settings or hardware and device still plugged in as before, it was no longer detecting any voice input.I have tried both a USB Mic and an older style plug in (with a pink and green jack used on front and rear panel audio jacks) and it is the same result with both.
