Microphone is quiet unless I speak directly in front of it.

After a windows update, my microphone became unusually quiet. I've already run the troubleshooter, Disabled exclusive mode, turned off enhancements, boosted the mic, updated audio drivers, reinstalled them. and tested different mics. No applications are interfering, yet the issue persists. I have to get really close for it to pick up my voice. Any help?
