Microphone is in use by a software app and I can't get it to stop.

I use a software called Riverside for recording podcasts and videos. When I open the Riverside studio to record it shows Riverside is connected to my computer microphone, but in the taskbar in the lower right corner the microphone icon says it is in use by Gusto. I cannot fix this. I have reached out to Riverside support and they are working on it, but thought I would reach out here as well.When I open the Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone I can see at the bottom the Chrome icon showing Gusto is using my microphone.
