Microphone is enabled both in sound and privacy settings, but does not work on applications (enabled)

I have been having this trouble for a couple of days now. Microphone is enabled and set as default device, but microphone acts like it is on mute. Has been getting the error in slack saying “Your microphone is muted by your system settings. Go to your system settings to unmute your microphone”.I tried going to the system settings but eveything looks normal and active. I can even see slack as an application with access to microphone. Please advise.
