Media player not functioning smoothly

I have been facing issue with the media player for past few years. I used to think its due to my pc issue, but when i tried other video players its smooth and fine. In short the issue i am facing is : when i open a video it buffers at start and playback just shows frames randomly.I have tried checking the GPU and drivers, latest updates. but still the media player has its issue. I hope someone could able to help me in this matter as media player has been a useful application for me.
