Massive Keyboard Delay And Repeated Inputs

Usually every 5-10 minutes my keyboard will have about a 20 second time period where my external keyboard inputs are delayed and repeated even when im not touching the keyboard. This makes it very difficult to do my work and even play video games. I am on a laptop and use an external keyboard. All help is appreciated.
