Managing Taskbar Application Shortcuts with (#)'s following their Name, such as Word (2)

The Windows 11 application shortcuts in my taskbar are mostly (but not all) numbered with "(2)" following their name. How do I find those that would be the (1)'s and delete them? Would doing so reset those in the taskbar without a number?A trivial issue but a teaching moment?Thanks for any help.
