I am running Windows 10 and the problem started a few months ago when a blank icon for the Windows Calendar appeared on the task bar. There is no icon for it, only a position for it. In other words, all other icons for opened programs are placed to the right of this Calendar blank icon square area. As per this forum I used the Powershell to uninstall and remove "Mail and Calendar" and then used Microsoft Store to download and reinstall. Even when removed the icon was pinned to the taskbar. I have tried to unpin this and even right clicked on Mail and Calendar to pin each to the task bar and then remove them. At first Calendar would never get unpinned. Now it is Mail that never gets unpinned. If I right click on the icon for either on the desktop it only has option to pin to taskbar (unpin not shown). But still the blank icon is there. While I hover over the blank spot the square area in the task bar turns a lighter shade and a label "Mail" is shown above while hovered. If I left click on it Mail opens.

An additional problem is that several Microsoft apps, when run, have the same blank icon on taskbar. Not only Calendar and Mail, but Weather, Photos, Windows Defender Security Center, Groove Music, and One Note; all Microsoft apps have the same blank icon on taskbar. And this is a Microsoft only problem because I have many other apps and they all work fine and icons are as they should be when on task bar.

So there are two problems, which I assume are related. The one icon (now mail) cannot be unpinned from task bar and all the Microsoft icons are blank when on task bar.

I have tried many things I found in the forum, but none of them fix either problem. Any help will be appreciated and I am willing to repeat prior tests to determine how to fix these two problems.
