Lost windows defender with anniversary update can't turn on antivirus protection

lost windows defender with anniversary update can't turn on antivirus protection even from control panel. Everything else seems to be fine but ? Got any ideals? This happened after I tried to install the anniversary update............so I did a recovery and still can't open defender.
