Locked out of Windows 11 by pin/password fail

Hi, I’m locked out of my computer (Dell Precision, W11) because I can’t get past the password entry screen. My pin has stopped working and it won’t let me reset. So I tried getting in with my new Microsoft account password and it says: ‘Your device is offline. Please sign in with the last password used on this device’. The MS Account password was reset about 30 hours ago, so surely the new password should be active now. How do I get back in? Neither pin or password will work.
