Locked out of my laptop because I tried to edit my phone number

I was locked out of my personal laptop, one I need for work, because I recently changed phone numbers and tried to edit my 2-step verification. I don't understand the point of locking me out for 30 days, and if this issue is not resolved I will git rid of every Microsoft system at my office and never spend a dime in the future on this company. I have currently been on hold with Windows support for over a hour with no end in sight. Absolutely ridiculous and disappointing. I hope there is some way around this, if anyone has answers help would be appreciated.
