I get the error message Starting Windows Live Mail for the first time
requires an online connection. I have tried the uninstall and re-install with
no success. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Most programs want to connect on first run. Its how they know you are ready
to use the application, also to register your use on line. If you say no
they usually just load.

The program does not give me an option to say yes or no.

There is no place to answer a yes or no in this program. It just moves
forward & loads, then the error messages. Second message is as follows:
Windows Live Mail could not be started because msmail.dll could not be
initialized. Windows Live Mail may not be installed correctly.
I have tried re-installing with firewall and internet protection off. Have
no e-mail due to Windows Mail problem four days ago(keeps asking for a
logon). So e-mail is totally down.

Hi spinwool,

Go to this link and download the WL-Beta Remove Zip (step 3 from top)
and run it. Then try reinstalling it again.

'Writer Zone' (http://windowslivewriter.spaces.live.com)

NOTE: If you have Windows Live Messenger installed you will also need
to reinstall it.:

- Reinstall Windows Live Messenger

Thanks
I tried it and still have the same messages. I cannot figure this out.
Really wanted to try Live Mail as my Windows Mail went belly up four days
ago. Any other ideas?

spinwool,

You can use this link to help fix your Windows Mail. Read through it
and if you do not have a stuck message problem, then do the "To Reset
Windows Mail" section.

Found the link thanks! Windows Mail is still constantly asking for the
logon even after re-loading a clean version. It goes in circles. My ISP
Hughes says it is a Vista problem. However Hughes is having some satellite
problems as well as e-mail problems. I wonder if this is preventing Live
from accessing and has possibly messed with Windows Mail. Meanwhile I am in
e-mail void. Thanks for your quick response.
