Latest windows update has deactivated windows 11 pro :/ how to reactivate?

I have a digital licence for win 11 pro and after last update showing as "not active". tried rebooting, no change. tried "troubleshoot" in activation, says "We weren't able to activate windows on this device"I've even tried "I recently changed hardware on this device" and the machine/ licence isn't in the list, presumably because it was never linked to my microsoft account (I didn't realise I had to, and I don't know how).I'm guessing that I'm going to get rinsed for a new licence (£220 for something I've already paid for). If there is a way to recover my license, please let me know.Many thank
