Laptop sets every new display config as "Show only on 1" when connecting to a new display for the first time

No real idea why this is happening. Only know of one end user affected.Is there a way to change this so that it will go to duplicate by default when connecting a display?In more detail:I work as a school IT admin/helpdesk. One of our teachers has found that when she connects to a rooms IWB (interactive whiteboard) for the first time that it will be set to "Show only on 1" which has caused the teacher some confusion.
