Laptop screen brightness really down

My laptop screen is really dull like it is full on brightness but I can't see anything, I had to use the mobile flash light really close to see. It is working fine but I have to put the flash like really close, I don't know of its a problem with my settings or the system itself? Please enlighten me, thank you.
