Laptop restarting instead of shutting down when clicking shut down button

Hey Microsoft Community, I'm experiencing a frustrating issue with my laptop. When I click the Shut down button, it restarts instead of shutting down. To turn it off, I've been pressing the power button for a few seconds. Please help me resolve this issue.
