Keyboard/mouse not working when asking for Bitlocker Recovery

I have an ASUS Zenbook and every time I open it, it immediately shows the Bitlocker screen but I can't use my mouse or keyboard to type in the key. This has happened before and usually holding down the power button for 15 or 40 seconds works and the little light on the power button turns on. Now it takes me more than an hour of repeating this and the light will not turn on. How can I get it to power on and prevent this from happening again?
