Keeping two screens open at once to transfer info from one program to another readily

I want to extract just the email addresses from a Word document I created that has a list of names and email addresses on it in order to enter them into a group email address box or my contacts in Gmail to send a group email to the recipients. I assume it will be easier if I can have both programs open at once and side by side on the screen. Is there a split screen option in Windows 7? How do I trigger it?
