One change I don't understand in Office 2007 is how the tab function. If I am

working on a document and typing text, then want to insert a line from the

Insert tab- shapes, insert the line, type more text, then insert another

drawing object, when I begin typing again, I am returned to the Home tab.

Then I must repeat all the previous steps of selecting the tab and the

options to draw another line.

Is there a way to prevent this action and have the program not automatically

change tabs until I select it? Thanks.

Billy,

I believe what you are describing is a default action of the Office

application and not something that is under user control.

If adding a shape, in your case a line, is something you do frequently, you

can add 'Shapes' to the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT). This way, you can

access any shape independent of the ribbon.
