Security Update for Microsoft.NET framework v2.0 (KB928365). Add/Remove
Programs list this update as being installed. Also, the WindowsUpdate.log
file indicates a successful install, followed shortly by a redetection of the
need to install the update. To date I have now installed this "install" 12
times and yet it still persists in coming up in Taskbar as ready to install -
please help before i go mad - also very plain english please - not a computer

If you can confirm that 928365 is listed in Add/Remove Programs *and*
Windows Update Installation History says it was installed OK *and* 928365 is
the update being offered to you again:

1. Go to Windows Update and do a Custom scan.

2. Uncheck 928365 and accept the "Don't show me this update again" prompt to
hide it from now on.

I have done as you have suggested - in Add/Remove it does say that KB928365
is there, however, in checking CUSTOM in Help and Support the narrative for
this download reads as below plus when DETAILS is pressed there are none - so
maybe the error is here somewhere.

A security issue has been identified that could allow an attacker to
compromise your Windows-based system running the Microsoft .NET Framework and
gain complete control over it. You can help protect your computer by
installing this update from Microsoft. After you install this item, you may
have to restart your computer. Details...
