I’ve forgotten my password and won’t let me reset

So I’ve been moving stuff around and my tower hasn’t been hooked up or used for the last 6+months. I’ve gotten it rehooked up and powered on. I’ve booted it up into safe mode to be able to access the command prompt but when I type in net user it’s not showing the only account that’s on the computer. Do I need to connect it to the internet to let it run upgrades behind the scene since it’s been down for so long?
