Hello Everyone,

I was not quite sure whether this has to be posted at HP support or here. I went through lot of HP forums, and finally decided it should go here. The scenario is as follows :-

We have a PC connected to the work network and a standalone terminal sharing a common Printer - HP Laserjet 1020 - connected using a USB Bi-directional switch. There are two controls in it which should be turned on/off depending on which one should be used for printing. Its a weird setup, but this is how it goes. Last week I was called to check the printing issues. After a few tests, I realised this is how it works. Switching the USB controls to both terminals and printing thereafter went smooth.

Today I was called again and they told me that printing has gone erratic again. The print from Standalone works perfect whereas the network terminal has no idea about what it sends to the printer. I tried un-installing and re-installing the printer driver in the network terminal, but that didn't help. At times, it says there is no such printer. Refreshing the very next moment shows the printer there itself. But the print queue is empty. I tried to connect this terminal to Port 1 (where the standalone communicates to the switch) to see if the problem is related with the Port 2, but that didn't help at all. I tried stopping and re-starting Spooler services, that too went in vain.

What would be the problem here ? Please advise.

Thanks,

Vipin
