Issue removing read only tag from folder

[Microsoft Windows]

So randomly one of my folders became read only, with 13gb of data in it, and i found this guide to fix it Redirecting but it gets stuck on the "changing ownership" screen. ive waited for an hour and it didnt do anything, i had to use task manager to close it because canceling the action did nothing either. any advice?
