Isn't it a bug in windows event log? TypesSupported dosnt work!

WIndows event logs are too many useless messages, and times and times the eventlog process eats up my limited CPU and HD r/w power.I noticed that, in the registry HLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog, most event have a parameter named "TypesSupported",usually it is set to 0x07 or 0x 1f ( means accepting error/warn/inform log-messages), so I set the value of TypesSupported to 0x3 ( error/warn only), but still, the information messages are logged. if TypesSupported doesnt work , can I have other ways to config windows eventlogs to write only error or warn or failsure messages into
