Is this normal? Update problem

While I was working on my laptop, a notification came telling me that I need to restart my device to get the latest features and things. Since I was done with my work, I closed everything and clicked restart. The update went normally, but then, after the update was done, my screen went black. In the middle a text came Saying, "Hi" after that it faded and it said, "This updates help keep you safe in the online world" and then, "Almost There" after which my laptop went to it's normal home screen.
