In Outlook 2016, replied IMAP messages are copied in stead of moved

Hi,

In my on-premise Exchange 2016 environment some users use IMAP in Outlook 2016 to access an Exchange account (they already have another Exchange account, so multiple Exchange accounts is not an option). When a 'normal' message in the inbox is moved (drag and drop) to another IMAP folder, the message is moved as expected (no strikeout, as the 'Mark items for deletion, but do not move them automatically' in the advanced settings is set, and the view is set to 'hide messages marked for deletion' ). So far so good. But once a message is used in a reply, the reply marker (envelop with purple arrow pointing to the left) appears besides the message and the message is copied in stead of moved when moving by either drag and drop or right mousebutton -> move -> choose move in the small given menu. Nothing seems to move the message, it just keeps on copying, even appearing multiple times in the destination folder! Then when at least 3 copies of the message are in the destination folder, all of a sudden the next move does delete the message from the sourcefolder (inbox).

What is going on here?

PS1. Reading other questions, I found that marking the message as unread and then moving it, the message is moved. And indeed, this seems to work somehow, but is quite a pain...

PS2. It's getting even more bizar, after replying the message and moving it to another folder, it stays as 'read' in the source folder. But when marking it afterwards as 'unread' in the source folder, it disappears from the source folder (and a copy is still in the destination folder, as expected)...

PS3. using the workaround described in PS2 gives me mixed results with different users. PS1 seems to work most of the time
